MICRODERMABRASION

The SkinBase Microdermabrasion Facial treatment uses a stream of non-allergenic crystals to remove your skin’s outermost layers of dead cells. Your therapist will use the handset to direct the stream of crystal over the treatment area and, where necessary, target specific zones. The handset then uses a mild suction to draw away the crystal and skin debris to reveal your new and improved complexion.
Microdermabrasion is chemical free and non-invasive yet achieves amazing results revealing younger, healthier looking skin from the very first treatment. The skin’s appearance is further improved through increased collagen & elastin production as your body produces a new layer of skin.

PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE

Botox/Dermal Fillers
Allow 14 days before performing microdermabrasion, including any touch up injections, to allow botox/fillers to settle.

Laser Treatments
A course of laser treatments cannot run concurrently with a course of microdermabrasion treatments. Please allow at least 2 weeks before commencing microdermabrasion after completing a course of Laser.

Skin Needling
Do not use for 4 weeks prior to microdermabrasion treatment.
​
Men
Please close shave the night before a treatment if carried out in the morning, or close shave the morning of your afternoon appointment.

AFTERCARE ADVICE
​
Up to 12 hours post treatment:
No Heavy Makeup.
​
Up to 24 hours post treatment:
No swimming, no facial waxing.
​
Up to 48 hours post treatment:
No sauna, sunbeds or sun exposure. No botox, collagen injections or dermal fillers.
​
Up to 72 hours post treatment:
do not use anti-aging creams, AHA's Glycolics or Retinol.
Do not use exfoliating products, the newly abraded skin is receptive to any products applied, so the use of any exfoliants after treatment can irritate the skin.
​
During all times post treatment and between a course of treatments:
SPF15 MINIMUM must be applied and exposure to U.V should be avoided.
Regular moisturiser applications are vital to replenish moisture and prevent the skin from becoming dry and peeling.

SkinBase Collagen Lift is a radio frequency system intended to stimulate the production of collagen, with the aim of toning the tissues and treating cellulite and inflammatory states of muscolo skeletal disorders.

How does it work? Using a ceramic wand the radio frequency energy is able to travel to deeper layers of the skin, the subcutanious layer, (the fatty layer.) The high energy waves have significant effects on the subcutaneous tissue. The increase in the deeper tissue temperature acts on the connective and adipose (fat) tissue causing cell metabolism. Collagen and Elastin go hand in hand in supporting the function of the skin, they work together to keep the skin firm and supple. Again, as we age the body slows down the production of these proteins and old elastin fibres begin to degrade resulting in the elasticity of the skin to weaken which in turn results in wrinkles and sagging in the skin.

Think of collagen as scaffolding within the skin which needs to be strong to support the skin and elastin as springs in between the "scaffolding" to give flexibility and bounce similar to how some mattresses work! Radio frequency helps the body produce more of these proteins and also helps to strengthen the existing collagen and elastin in the skin already there.
